Winter shadows tease porch chimes
lull us close to sleep

I want to dream of teal and red birds
in quiet flight

the full moon filling the calm
with ease    delight

Michael Carrino holds an M.F.A. in Writing from Vermont College. He is a retired English lecturer at the State University College at Plattsburgh, New York, where he was co-founder/poetry editor of the Saranac Review. He has eight books of poetry published, and forthcoming, Natural Light?(Kelsay Books), as well as individual poems in numerous journals and reviews.
